Tolles Buch.Zum Inhalt:Dieser Roman beschäftigt sich ganz allgemein mit dem Thema Erinnerung und wie Menschen ihre eigene Erinnerung unbewusst manipulieren und formen. Es zeigt auf, wie unterschiedlich Ereignisse erlebt, verarbeitet, aber vor allem in Erinnerung behalten werden.Die Erzählung baut sich rund um eine Liebesgeschichte des jugendlichen Protagonisten auf. Dieser ist bereits im Seniorenalter und erzählt rückblickend aus seiner Erinnerung, die oft lückenhaft beziehungsweise verzerrt zu sein scheint.Sehr lesenswert!
Ich lese Bücher selten ein zweites Mal. Dieses habe ich nun - über Jahre - zum 4. Mal gelesen. Es ist keine schöne Geschichte, aber man kommt auch nicht davon los. Jedesmal bleiben Fragen über Fragen. .. Wie ist es denn nun tatsächlich gewesen? Was habe ich verpasst? Hilft es, das Buch nochmal zu lesen?Das Thema ist faszinierend. Erinnerungen. Wahrnehmungen. Subjektiv? Objektiv? Können persönliche Erinnerungen objektiv sein? Vollständig? Wenn zwei Personen ein Ereignis gemeinsam erleben...Wäre ihre persönliche Erinnerung daran jeweils dieselbe?
Simply put: the ending is incompatible with what is said a third through the book. One feels that the author has strung the reader along and taken him for a bumpy ride (yes, bumps figure prominently at the end). Or that he has click-deleted the first part. Too clever for the book's good.
Es gehört zu unserer Überlebensausstattung, dass wir im Laufe der Zeit eine glatte Legende des Verlaufs unseres Lebens modellieren. Barnes Protagonist Tony Webster hat dies auch getan. Als geschiedener Rentner wird er gezwungen, sich mit seiner eigenen Lebenslegende noch einmal kritisch zu beschäftigen und einige Elemente neu zu denken.Mich hat das kleine 150 Seiten starke Werk fasziniert. Der Autor geht mit dem Leser noch einmal zurück in die Schulzeit , in der vier äußerst unterschiedliche Freunde ihre Pubertät leben, in die Zeit erster Liebe, schließlich Heirat und Scheidung und so fort. Dabei zwingt der Autor den Leser, das Geschehen aus der Blickrichtung des eher nachdenklichen als handlungsaktiven Helden Webster zu betrachten. dabei bleibt Vieles unbeantwortet, so dass ich manche Passage wiederholt las und zu anderen Bewertungen gelangte. Die Schilderung von Websters Schulzweit oder von Veronicas Familie erinnerte mich an meine Schulzeit in den Fünzigern bis Anfang der Sechziger und zeigt mir, dass einige Grundelemente des Erwachsenwerdens unabhängig von Sprache oder Nationalität eine ähnliche Ausprägung haben. Mich hat das Büchlein zum Nachdenken gebracht, was mir bei heutiger Literatur auf Grund ihrer Selbstverliebtheit nicht immer passiert.
Diese Buch lässt so viele Gedanken offen. Ich hatte es bestellt und einige Rezensionen gelesen. Leider hat jemand gespoilert und ich dachte ich kenne nun schon das Ende des Buches, weshalb ich es lange links liegen ließ. Beim Lesen stellte sich heraus, dass der Spoiler nur seine eigene Interpretation des Endes und des Buches erläutert hatte, keineswegs das, was tatsächlich im Buch geschrieben steht. Der Schreibstil ist toll, man möchte sich die Sprache am liebsten selbst aneignen und die Handlung scheint vor sich hin zu plätschern, fesselt den Leser aber und regt sehr stark zum Nachdenken an.
Julian Barnes knows how to write. It is a pleasure to read through his pages and follow his rhythm. The plot is good, although I guess I am even more aloof than the main character, as I still didn't get but he was supposed to get at the end (but reading reviews online, it looks like many feel the same)
I bought this book expecting a fascinating story, but although it brought back to mind how things were all those years ago, I found it partially boring. A good book is a book which keeps my mind working, days, weeks or even months later. This one I kept putting aside in favour of another.
Habe mir das Buch natürlich in der Originalsprache gekauft und war begeistert von der Tiefgründigkeit und den überraschenden Wendungen im Buch. Werde es auf jeden Fall noch einmal lesen und das mache ich nur bei sehr wenigen Büchern.Zur Story werde ich hier nichts schreiben, schließlich soll jeder ganz unvoreingenommen das Buch selbst entdecken.viel Spaß dabei!!!
